FAQ

It is the beginning of Fall and we have a couple months left to go before we hand out the blankets to the homeless for this winter. If you are still interested in crocheting a blanket, please don't hesitate to post a comment anywhere on this blog or e-mail us at needles4theneedy@gmail.com so we will add your name to our list of pledges. Don't forget to provide us with the link to your blog or website so it will be included with your name (which is completely optional since we respect your privacy).

We will also use this post as an opportunity to answer a few common questions:

Can I knit the blanket instead?
Absolutely! Providing blankets to the poor and needy is our main focus, we want to keep them warm for the winter. We will gladly accept blankets in any form, size, and shape. So if you want to donate knitted blankets or even quilts, we'll be sure to give it to those who could most certainly use it! We also accept baby blankets or medium-sized blankets as well.

Is it too late to crochet a blanket?
Not at all, you can easily crochet a decent-sized blanket within a month (or faster!) if you dedicate a half hour each day crocheting.

Where do I send the blankets to?
Marlene
P.O. Box 5229
Chico, CA 95927

Can I donate yarn or money for yarn?
Most certainly, we need all the help that we can get. Thank you!

I'm not very good at crocheting, can I still help?
Psst, the majority of us are also learning how to crochet for the first time. Luckily, warm blankets do not require a complicated pattern. We even made a simple pattern (optional) for those participating in the ministry and it requires only two unique stitches, so you do not have to be an expert at crocheting! You can also email us if you need further assistance.

Is there another way I can help your ministry?
You betcha! You can blog about our ministry, retweet our tweets (follow us on Twitter!), post our website on your Facebook, and even add our nifty logo to your blog. If you add our logo, let us know so we can add you on our Partners page! Our logo can be located on the right hand column.

Will you help to make a difference?

Dear Readers,

FIVE generous ladies have pledged to crochet blankets for our ministry which brings us to the total of THIRTEEN blankets. Praise the Lord!!

But there are still FORTY-SEVEN homeless people who will not receive a warm handmade blanket for the cold winter :(

We strongly believe God will answer our prayers and we are relying on YOU to make a difference today!

If you know how to crochet or knit, please take a few minutes out of your day to make a blanket for a person without a home. We have many months to go before we gather up all the blankets to give to the poor, so we still have plenty of time :)

It has been agreed that we will take pictures of all the blankets that are donated to us. We will also post pictures of the blankets being handed out to the homeless, how exciting!! If you donate a blanket, you will see your lovely gift being presented to a person who really needs it.

If you do not know how to crochet or knit, you can still make a difference by donating a few dollars for those who need money for yarn. You can even mail in yarn instead of money.

Please view our Partners Page to see a list of people who generously posted our logo on their page. If you would like to be added, add our logo on your blog and send us a message with your blog link. We'll add you as soon as we can, thanks and God Bless!!

Our Pattern*

This is a pattern provided for those who want to help! We are also not limited to one pattern, and if you have your own blanket that you made and want to donate, we will welcome these! Thank you!

About Our Site

My mother and I came up with an idea for a project to do together. We decided to create "Needles for the Needy" to help the homeless endure the cold winter by crocheting blankets. We want to gather as many people as we can to help us make enough for next winter. We are looking for anyone who knows how to crochet and wants to give to the poor.

We grew up very poor and there was ten years when we were homeless. We know what it is like to struggle to make it through and how hard the streets are. I wrote a story about it on Growing in Grace Magazine called "With No Place to Call Home." God has blessed us abundantly and we want to share the blessings that God gave us to others.

My mother wrote a pattern and I listed it on the bottom of this page. If you are interested in helping, you can use the pattern and make as many blankets as you wish. Our mailing address is on the right side column. If you do not know how to crochet, you can donate yarns to the ladies who are making blankets or donate money so we can buy more supplies to help make this project possible.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit this website!
May God abundantly bless you!
